About the felling permit in bois-des-filion

The City of Bois-des-Filion permits the felling of trees on land under certain conditions. A certificate of authorization is required to cut down any deciduous tree with a diameter of 10 cm or more (diameter calculated at 1.3 m from the ground) and all trees with a height of more than 2 meters.
The felling of a tree may be justified in the following cases;

• the tree is dead or has an incurable disease;

• the tree represents a danger to the safety of people

• the tree prevents the growth of neighboring trees;

• the tree makes it impossible to carry out work or uses that comply with the by-law;

• the tree must be felled to carry out work for public purposes.

In some cases, the felled tree must be replaced by another tree on the ground. The fee for an application for a certificate of authorization is $25 plus a deposit, if applicable.
